Description

The Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, is the home of Ballet West, Broadway Across America – Utah and Utah Opera. This historic landmark, also hosts world class Broadway productions, concerts and community events.
In 1913, the building began as the Orpheum Theatre, a vaudeville house, and featured some of the "highest standard acts and greatest stars of the stage." In 1923, movies were introduced to the theatre and in 1927, new owners renamed the venue the Capitol Theatre. In 1975, the building was renovated and turned into a performing arts center as part of the Salt Lake County Bicentennial Celebration.
The most recent renovation took place in 2013, to improve sight lines and restroom access, among other enhancements. This renovation project, in which the theater was renamed the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre, is the first part of the expansion for the future, new permanent home of Ballet West.
For this project Pohl Engineering LLC / Rainscreen Solutions LLC received in 2013 contract for engineering service for metal panel’s façade system and design of the stainless steel columns.
